My first fiction novel…

The Flood

Fiction Novel

Having pondered and then deliberated on this universal subject, I have finally committed to starting work on my first work of fiction. As a writer, I have little to no prior experience in this frankly enormous realm, and  yet I feel equally compelled to jump in and see what I’m capable of, which I can also admit is the first time that I’ve ever felt this divided.

I am initially pinning my confidence on the discipline of legal writing, along with my lifelong love of film, however I am under absolutely no illusions as to how big a challenge this will be, which paradoxically reinforces my fundamental ethos that we should all move toward the things that scare us the most (within reason of course).

As of this date, I am midway into my fourth chapter, and once I have enough content to satisfy the first part of what is now a planned trilogy, I will upload some extracts here for viewing, in the hope that it gets a warm reception from whomever reads it.

For reasons of exposition, the story ties closely to the almost mythical tale of Atlantis, but takes its theme from my love of all things diving when I was a young boy, something that also felt natural when I started to write this book. I have no solid sense of the finer details, and so many of my ideas come to me whilst rowing in the gym, however I’m putting my faith in whatever I feel compelled to include or discuss, and so far I’m relieved to say that its been working out well.

Rather than say too much too early, I will leave things here, and as the book progresses, I will add more thoughts and perhaps content to the site, so please wish me luck and be sure to watch this space over the coming months…
